So I thought I’d begin my Holiday Gift Guide Series with the gifts for women. Whether it’s for your mother, sister, or friend, “cute and pretty” certainly go a long way. Unlike men, gifts for women don’t necessarily have to be practical. This season, home decor and accessories seem to be a hot commodity for gifts. What do you plan on picking up for the women in your life? Here’s just a few of my top gift choices:
Tyler enjoying his favorite Thanksgiving beverage [sparkling apple cider]
First off, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I was lucky enough to have last week off completely from work. I got to see Catching Fire (SO good!), go to the Melting Pot, celebrate my Mother in Law’s birthday, shop ’til I dropped, and had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with my husband’s family. We just capped off our weekend by decorating for Christmas. This time of the year is my favorite!
Catching Fire with my girl, Jenny. Such a GOOD movie!
All is good with me – very good actually, I simply just wanted a blog break. After all, I do it for fun and it was beginning to feel like chore for a while there. Now that I’m rested and have overcome a slight case of writer’s block, I’m back to tell you what’s new. To be honest, not much is new, lol. But I will be up to a lot here in the next few weeks. I have vowed to get all of my Christmas shopping done by December 15th. It’s a personal goal I have NEVER achieved. No joke, I used to do my shopping on Christmas Eve. Too much unneeded stress for me, so I’m turning a new leaf.
This pretty much sums up my reaction from last night’s Walking Dead Mid Season Finale.
Okay, so random, but since I’m a fan it’s time to talk about last night’s Walking Dead Mid-Season finale. The fuck??? How can they leave us hanging like that? February 9th is SO far away to wait and see what happens. I’m so sad Hershel is dead. What happened to all of the kids? Did they take Judith? Or is there a zombie baby crawling around somewhere? Where are they going to go? My husband has his own prediction. You never see the Governor get shot. He thinks his GF shoots a zombie that is trying to get him and saves his life. Too. Many. Possibilities.
Be ready for some excited posts about holiday gift giving, YouTube videos and more! I missed you all! Have an awesome ( as it can possibly be for a Monday) day!
I LOVE Thanksgiving. I kind of feel bad for it this year (more than any other year that I can remember) since it seems as if we have jumped from Halloween straight to into Christmas. I love food. I love family. Thanksgiving means food and family. Win win!
Let’s talk food. My least favorite part of a Thanksgiving feast is the turkey. There – I said it. It just seems bland to me and honestly the only reason I like it is because it is a vehicle to get the gravy into my mouth without drinking it straight out of the gravy boat. For real. The side dishes? OMG. Stuffing and mashed potatoes are some of my favorite foods anyway, so naturally, it’s my favorite meal of the year. I like to think of myself as a seasoned side dish expert. I love trying new recipes every year. Here are some favorites that I *highly* recommend!
During one of my many shopping trips to Sephora during their VIB sale, I couldn’t help but check out their new Formula X nail polish line. I was BLOWN away by the selection. Literally 2 sides of the display full the most beautiful, unique colors they had to offer. They even have fun little clear strips to paint on so you can put them over your nail and take them home to think about the color a little longer (if you need to). The formula is smooth and EVERY color you could want and more is available. I picked up a few of my favorite fall trends. Here are some of my favorites!
Our home decor is so bland. All neutrals and blah. I have interior design envy every day on Pinterest. If I had the time, I’d start from scratch in a heartbeat and redo every room in our house, with the exception of my son’s room which looks amazing if I do say so myself( I put a LOT of thought into his nursery and made it very colorful and fun). This week, I want to share some of my favorite Home Office inspiration. I have a very modern style. I like a clean and fresh look with pops of color. White with black and gold is also gorgeous. I would be happy with my office looking like any of these!
Metallics are EVERYWHERE and they are one of the most gorgeous trends of the fall. From glitzy sweaters, to shiny skirts and accessories, metallics make any outfit POP! I am really loving metallic handbags, especially this BCBG clutch. You can easily transition this from day to night. Check out some of my other shiny faves!
When I saw this top back in September during the Piperlime Friends and Family sale, I had to have it. I love boucle and the fact that it had faux leather trim was the icing on the cake. I paired it with my Topshop leggings from Nordstrom and my favorite Marc by March Jacobs Fran Q bag. I also like to pair this with my black or red J. Crew excursion vest.
Graphic sweatshirts are all the rage right now. The Bien Fait sweatshirt from Madewell has been one of the top sweatshirts of the season and I managed to pick up the last one at my store. Someone had just returned it and it happened to be my size. That NEVER happens. Most stores are sold out, so if you see one, snatch it up! Bien Fait means “made well” in french- go figure. I went for a french-inspired look by wearing a black and white striped tee underneath. I also paired it with some of my favorite boots and my coveted sequin-gold clutch.
As we inch our selves farther into colder whether, that means time to get out the scarves. They’re the perfect practical accessory for fall and winter, not to mention the ultimate holiday gift. I have a handful on my Christmas list this year. Kate Spade has SO many cute ones right now. My current favorites are graphic prints, wool and plaid.
