I don’t know what it was about drivers in Denver this weekend, but there sure were a lot of a-holes out there thinking they owned the road. Out of all of the many pet-peeves I have, bad drivers would have to be the worst. Today, I salute you Mr. Douchebag driver as I recognize you for ten things that drive me bat shit crazy (no pun intended).
1. Driver’s who don’t use their turn signal. It was put there for a reason and I don’t appreciate when I *use* my signal to get into the lane next to me and you’re coming in from the other side like you own the place and almost sideswipes me because you didn’t use yours.
2. Tailgaters. If you tailgate me, prepare to be slowed down even more.
3. People who drive under the speed limit. Sorry pops, but I’ve got 30 hours of work to do in a 10 hour window of time. Get moving. I don’t want to tailgate. Just go the speed limit. Maybe 5-10 over. Tops.
4. Idiots who text on their phone. I did this one time and drove up on a curb and almost hit a stop sign. I about had a heart attack and it was to reply to non-important “what’s for dinner?” text. I will never, ever, ever, ever do it again. Pay attention to the road!
5. People who drive too fast. When I am going 10 over the speed limit and you whiz on by me, it makes you look like a jackass. I pray these kind of people get pulled over. Its usually a douchebag on a crotch rocket or a man with a tiny dick huge truck or sports car
6. People who weave in and out of traffic like they’re better than everyone. You’re not. You’re making yourself look bad.
7. People who gawk at accidents and cause traffic. Would you want the world staring at the accident if it were you? Mind your own business and carry on.
8. When it’s pouring rain, blizzarding, (insert bad weather here) and people in SUVs and trucks whiz by like they’re invincible. You’re going to kill someone if you wipe out, if not yourself. Obviously if the weather is that bad, there is no rush. Everyone’s behind on days like this.
9. Huge barbaric trucks with the huge wheels and fake testicles dangling from the tailgate. You’re pretty much giving it away that you are compensating for something when you drive vehicles like this. Just sayin’…
10. People who park in handicap spots without a permit or people who take up more than one parking space. There should be special parking spots in China for people that do this.
Phew- feels good to let out a good rant once in a while. What’s one of your driving Pet Peeves?
Happy belated Mother’s Day to all the mommas out there and a special shout-out to my mommy! She’s done so much for me and has put up with A LOT over the years. I can’t wait to see her next week! There was no making of anything from me. My husband and son made me a delicious breakfast of crepes with fresh fruit filling. They were absolutely AMAZING! They also gave me some moo-lah to spend at the spa. I’m seriously loved!
The weather has been goregous lately, so after breakfast, we headed to the local Farmer’s Market and the park to enjoy some outdoor time. My husband snapped a few photos of T and Me.
I was also surprised with some flowers and chocolate. The flowers haven’t bloomed yet, but I’m excited to get to enjoy them all week!
I did get a little something for myself from Happy Cakes bakery in Denver. Of course, I shared with my two boys!
I’ve been out of shape for a long time. So out of shape that I would huff and puff going up the stairs at home. It was pathetic and I needed change. I want to be around to see my son grow up and have his own family and the way I was going, my health was certain to slowly decline. About a month ago, I got a membership to 24 Hour Fitness with the intention of making exercise something constant in my life. I am proud to say I’ve already noticed an improvement. While I’ve only lost two pounds on the scale, I’ve noticed that everyday activities don’t wear me out. I can play with my son more than a minute without having to take a break. While it is exciting to see the number on the scale decrease, it doesn’t beat the feeling of accomplishment and how I feel every time I work out. I love feeling the burn. I love breaking a sweat. I love that my husband also got a membership and we encourage each other to not skip workouts. It’s been a wonderful thing for us.
Is it hard to muster up the energy to go sometimes? You betcha. But once I get in the car and drive there, I’m already over it and ready to do my thing! I will admit, there are some things that motivate me more than others.
1. Shopping for workout clothes!I love to shop and when I got my gym membership, I knew that meant cute new workout clothes and shoes were on my “to shop for” list. Here are my workout essentials:
2. Watching the calories disappear right before my eyes!I like instant gratification and I set a “calorie” goal for each workout. I watch the number every minute to see my progress and once I’ve reached that magic number, I feel satisfied.
3. Noticing that my smaller clothes fit better. This one speaks for itself. The better my clothes fit the more I realize that I am losing weight. This also hopefully means more shopping for smaller clothes in the near future!
4. A good workout playlist! I LOVE music and there’s nothing like working out to great pump-up music! Here are some of my current favorites:
Radioactive - Imagine Dragons
Feel so Close - Calvin Harris
Scream and Shout - Britney Spears
Burn it Down - Linkin Park
Lolli Lolli - Three 6 Mafia
Wop - J Dash
5. People Watching- Whether it’s the body-buliding meatheads with mullets showing off how much they can lift as they groan and grunt or the eye-candy (yes, I’m married, but it’s okay to look, DH does too!), there is always SO much entertainment at the gym (and not just the TVs)! It does get a little awkward the few times you’re “caught” and people make eye contact back at you. Ugh, I hate that.
I’ve been going to the gym about 2-3 times a week now, only because it is my busy season at work. My latest goal is to up that to 4 times a week in June and 5 times a week by July. I have also been eating better by drinking green smoothies and watching my portions. I’ve made it such a habit to eat less and now I feel full after half of the amount I did a month ago. This method also allows me to indulge a little without over-doing it.
After one month of working out, I am very proud of myself and feel amazing.I started off at 152 pounds and am now 150. My goal weight is 125. I know I am completely capable of achieving this by increasing my workouts and continuing to eat better. I look very forward to seeing my continued progress and feeling even better!
Do you have a workout routine? What are your good habits and tricks to stay motivated? Any advice?
With Mother’s Day coming up this weekend, I thought I would put together a mood board with hints ideas of gifts for that special woman who birthed, sacrificed and dealt with your shenanigans over the years. I mean, any of these gifts would be AMAZING, right? Tyler, if you’re reading this (or daddy is reading it to you), pay close attention
This week’s edition of I Made it Monday is special because it is actually my mother-in-law’s recipe. They are famous around these parts! I’ve always thought they’d be a good recipe to add to Pinterest, so I finally got around to baking up a batch. These are very quick and simple to make and I am SO happy to share this delicious recipe with all of my readers!
Here’s what you need:
2 1/2 cups of flour
1 cup of butter, room temperature (2 sticks)
2 eggs
1 package of instant vanilla pudding mix
1 package of chocolate chips
3/4 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of sugar
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
1 tablespoon of baking soda
Oh yeah, can’t forget a cute little helper!
Preheat oven to 350. Start out by mixing the butter, sugar, vanilla and eggs until creamy.
Add baking soda and pudding mix.
Slowly add flour to the mixer until dough is no longer sticky.
Tyler loved watching the mixing process.
Once you are finished mixing, fold in the chocolate chips.

I secretly love it when I run out of a beauty product because that means I get to replace it with something new! What originally started as me needing to replace my foundation, turned into me buying mascara, perfume, bronzer, highlighter and lipstick. Lookie what I got!
kate spade Live Colorfully perfume. Yeah, yeah coming from the girl who never buys perfume, this smells SO good that I really did need a whole bottle of it. Now that’s saying something.
Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder - This is great used as a a bronzer. Just the right amount of color without looking like disco ball.
Laura Mercier Baked Powder Highlight - This is a gorgeous product! I like shimmer and just like the bronzer, this gets the job done without over-doing it!
Sephora Rouge Cream Lipstick in The Red – I was feeling brave.
